Join us in celebrating the stunning artistry of local photographers Hank Gans and Laurie Peek at their upcoming photography show, “Beyond the Bloom: Botanical Photographs.” The exhibition will be held at the Mikhail Zakin Gallery at The Art School at Old Church, located at 561 Piermont Road, Demarest, NJ. Join them for the opening reception Thursday, February 20th, from 6–8 PM, to meet the artists and enjoy their remarkable work in person.
If you can’t make it to the opening, the exhibition will remain on view during the gallery’s regular hours through March 15, 2025: Monday–Friday 9:15 AM–5:30 PM and 7–10 PM, and Saturday 10 AM–3 PM.

Laurie Peek and Hank Gans show us their unique approaches to botanical photography. Peek’s “In Lieu of Flowers” series is an evocative meditation on transmuting loss into a lasting tribute and the healing power of artmaking. Gans’ photographs incorporate a diversity of styles and techniques to display his fascination with the details, color and beauty of flowers. Each photograph, whether vibrant, monochromatic or intricately textured, captures the essence of his subjects and vividly conveys nature’s splendors. Together they present fresh works that will astound, confound, and delight viewers.
