New Ansel Adams Photograph at Gallery 270
We are pleased to announce that the Gallery has recently acquired of a sublime piece of photographic history by Ansel Adams. Aspens, Northern New Mexico, 1958 is a 16×20 toned silver gelatin print made in 1969 and purchased from the legendary Witkin Gallery that same year. This particularly exemplary print has rarely been shown and though it’s 47 years old is in its pristine original condition. Adams’ signature use of the full tonal scale is exhibited in this print with brightly illuminated aspen leaves highlighted against a dark background with rich, deep blacks, both replete with detail. This print has been protected in a frame since first purchased by the original owner in 1969 and has just been inspected and had its matting conserved by experts at The Better Image.
