Mel Evans Bio

As a photojournalist for 43 years, I made photographs almost every single work day. For all those years and still today, to me, the most important element of an image is the light and what it does in the frame. Even when strong action carries the photograph, light still plays a major role. I really enjoy observing light and wondering about its properties. Retired now, I’ve returned to my black and white roots. I’m having a happy battle with light. Observing light and recording it is seldom linear. And as I work through my slight disconnect between pre-visualization and the final result, I plan to only work on individual images like those exhibited here.
