
George Tice
b. 1938
NJ native George Tice has long been associated with the exploration of the meaning and emotional content of American culture. A Guggenheim Foundation Fellow with work exhibited in over 80 major museums and countless private collections, Tice has long been admired for his reputation as a sought-after teacher and master printer. His 25th book, “Lifework” earned him the prestigious Lucie Award in 2015 for Lifetime Achievement in Photography. Tice’s long association with Edward Steichen culminated in his collaboration with Steichen’s widow Joanna, as printer for the legacy project the Steichen Portfolio, and the book “Steichen’s Legacy “ which was companion to the Whitney Museum’s 2000 Steichen Retrospective.
